Geotab is excited to announce the upcoming release of Predictive Risk Analytics for drivers, a powerful new feature coming to the Geotab Safety Center and Drive App in February. This feature, which will be rolled out globally to all customer databases by mid-February, is designed to help fleet managers proactively improve driver safety and prevent future incidents.

Proactive Collision Risk Prevention
The Geotab Safety Center Risk Analytics Page uses advanced AI and data analytics to predict and prevent collisions before they happen. By assessing driver behavior and using historical data, this solution generates actionable, predictive insights that can significantly enhance driver safety programs. With the addition of driver-specific insights, fleet managers can now:
View collision risk for your group, assets, and drivers, helping you address potential safety concerns proactively.
Compare fleet safety performance against similar fleets to better understand where improvements can be made.
Benchmark driver and asset safety performance with similar drivers and vehicles in other fleets for better visibility and decision-making.
How Benchmarking Works: A Deeper Dive into Fleet Safety
Geotab’s machine learning model powers the benchmarking system. By aggregating safety events and assigning them to individual drivers, regardless of the vehicle they use, the model provides valuable insights on behaviors that impact fleet safety. The system tracks critical safety events such as:
Acceleration
Braking
Cornering
Speeding
Contextual Data Points (such as weather and traffic conditions)
The Safety Center now offers three types of benchmarks to help you compare your fleet’s performance:
Fleet Benchmark
This compares your entire fleet's safety performance to a peer group of fleets with similar characteristics. The peer group is selected based on factors such as vehicle types, vocation (type of work), and location of operations.
Asset Benchmark
This compares the safety performance of a specific vehicle within your fleet to similar vehicles in other fleets. This feature helps identify which vehicles in your fleet need attention or improvements.
Driver Benchmark (NEW)
The newest addition, driver benchmarking, compares a driver’s safety performance to a peer group of similar drivers in other fleets. This allows fleet managers to identify safe-driving habits or areas for improvement for each individual driver.
These comparisons provide valuable insights, helping fleet managers tailor training and safety programs based on real-time data.
What You Need to Know
Currently, Geotab’s Predictive Risk Analytics are only available for vehicles with GO devices. As we continue to iterate and improve our systems, we are planning to incorporate data from OEM vehicles as well.
For more detailed information on how to use these new features, please refer to the Safety Center User Guide and How are assets and/or drivers compared? sections. Additionally, you can download the Geotab Drive App from the Google Play Store or the iOS App Store.
Why This Matters for Your Fleet
The introduction of Predictive Risk Analytics marks a major step forward in fleet safety. By turning historical data into actionable insights, Geotab is giving fleet managers the tools they need to reduce the risk of accidents, improve driver behavior, and ultimately save on costs related to fleet management and insurance. Whether you're managing a small fleet or a large enterprise, this new feature is designed to help you operate safer, more efficiently, and with greater peace of mind.
